“Evolve or Die.” A bold motto from the guys behind the successful Mods vs Rockers Chicago. They will celebrate their 10th Anniversary this year (2014) with a new, dialed-in and rockin’ motorcycle, scooter and hot rod event complete with a 3-day weekend of live music, a pin-up contest, vendor booths and much more. Introducing, “MOTOBLOT.”
This is a look back on our 2011 weekend adventure in Chicago during the annual Mods vs Rockers event. One of the event sponsors, Motoworks Chicago, provided us with a Tiger 800 XC to ride and film from (a big thanks to Johnny Scheff!). Here’s a photo gallery and story of how much fun we had surrounded by the headlining British marque.
Old black and white photos of vintage enduro racing make us think about what races were like with less sponsors, less regulations and rules. There’s a purity about it: no logo-saturated arenas, branded bales or race track billboards, just a big sky and a gritty, challenging road.

Barret Bar and Monkey Wrench, a coupla bars located across the street from each other, shared host-locale duties for the many motorcyclists and vintage bike fans who showed up for the first Kentucky Kick Down. This article was originally posted on Ural’s blog: Darting around the Circle City on the Ural was a blast during the Red Bull Indianapolis GP weekend. You don’t need backwoods or mountains for an adventure, an urban setting will provide plenty challenges, dangers and varying scenery. Unlike an introspective off-road journey, the city provides an audience. Riding by bus stops and passing pedestrians, the Ural attracts many smiling and bewildered people. Others react to the red sidecar as if they had just spotted a unicycling clown.
