Tony Prust’s northern Chicago shop, Analog Motorcycles, has maintained a solid and steady presence in the custom motorcycle realm and garners much attention on the web. We wanted to share his latest build, the Continental Scout featured on BikeEXIF, but dig a little deeper into the mind behind the machine.
We threw the cameras on the bikes and rode a short trip north to Kokomo, Indiana, for the 3rd annual Kokomoto (2014) being held at the picturesque “A Summer Place.” Blue skies, old bikes and friendly hosts made for another great year of good ol’ Midwestern moto-camaraderie. Not long ago, we shared our impression of the Royal Enfield Continental GT. We complimented the amount of appropriately cool nostalgia they packed into the 535cc single and its throwback ‘featherbed’ frame. We were smitten with this mass-produced cafe racer, but we hadn’t ridden it yet. Now we have, and here’s our reaction.
The guys at ICON Motosports have high standards for design. They love to make things work well AND look good (in their words: “go fast, look flash”). Spanning many genres of motorcycling, they have a way of turning heads with their builds that make modern hipster bikes look painfully pedestrian. There’s a gnashing-of-teeth quality to their bikes, like these featured Team RAIDEN Triumph Tiger 800XCs built in collaboration with Motoworks Chicago.
We’ve been monitoring Royal Enfield’s modern reprise of the Continental GT since its working prototype rose to fame on the internet in 2012. Launched at the height of a current cafe racer craze, it hit and stuck and has continued a successful stir on social media. Its good looks have beckoned us from the beginning.
