This photo set is just a fraction of what you’ll see at Motorcycles on Meridian, a huge gathering of bikes during the Red Bull Indianapolis GP weekend. If you’re in town for the race or you’re a local Hoosier, just point your bike toward the center of the city and you’ll see the streets swelling with motorcycles. It all starts up again around 4pm today (Saturday 8/17).
Ahead of the 2013 Red Bull Indianapolis GP, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway hosted a Cultural Event for MotoGP Riders at the Major Taylor Velodrome. Meet Doc Batsleer from New Smyrna Beach, FL and his 1934 Indian Bonneville Sport Scout. The day we ran across this bike in 2012, its 45 cubic inches motored Doc around the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course during AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days. With various bikes, he raced in the Pre-War, Class C Hand Shift and Vintage 50s classes.

Here’s a behind-the-scenes look at a mural for the Wilkinson Bros design studio (video below), featuring an illustrative depiction of a 1913 Indian board track racer. The goal was to create a warehouse vibe with the horizontal slats (and to avoid painting on the existing tongue-n-groove paneling).
Tucked away off Highway 19, just north of Tipton, Indiana, is a concentrated slice of Americana called, “A Summer Place.” It was the location chosen by the Davis Brothers of Kokomo, to host the 2nd Annual Kokomoto Vintage Bike Show. We fired up the bikes, rode north through pretty farmland, a few small towns and dropped in on the nostalgic bike show (streetbikes, scooters, dirtbikes and even bicycles were welcome).
