Mods vs Rockers Chicago 2013: Event Video

Relive the 2013 Mods vs. Rockers Chicago event taking place in Uptown Chicago at the Aragon Ballroom. The guys at Steel Toe Press throw a mean party, or in this case, the “largest urban vintage motorcycle rally in the United States.” We were there for the entire Saturday and captured this video-sampling of bikes, hot rods and rock n’ roll. There were top acts indoor and out, with a nice mix of rockabilly, psychobilly, roots rock and a little punk sprinkled in. If you missed this killer gathering of mods, rockers and rockabilly rebels, mark your calendar for next year: June 13th & 14th, 2014!

Finding Fun On a Rainy Ride

Soaking in a torrential downpour, we rode the Ural sidecar and BMW cafe racer toward a vintage motorcycle event about 45 minutes north. Featuring the same great focus on vintage motorcycles and scooters, this was the first year at a new location that more comfortably and safely fit bikes, hot rods and vendors. More buzzworthy was the ability to offer an indoor and outdoor stage of killer bands at the historic Aragon Theater. If you missed it, check out this photo-feature to live vicariously through our lens…

Flat12_titlegsg

The 7th annual event brought out the city’s coolest customs and oldies-but-goodies, but it’s the overall scene we dig the most: the people, the music, the vibe. If you couldn’t make it, here’s a taste of what you missed and why we’re a proud sponsor of this always-entertaining motorcycle gathering.

The Amazing Miniature World of Satoshi Araki

Honda Cub 1/35 Scale

Remember carefully assembling models? Breaking off the little parts and painstakingly painting and gluing them together? There’s an art to doing it well. Then, there are guys like Satoshi Araki who take it much further, adding decay and the tiniest of details to his dioramas. Tons of Satoshi’s incredible artwork can be seen on his Facebook page, but here are some motorcycle-related samples that we were drawn to and appreciate.

Interview: Eric Anderson of AMotoCo Photography

AMotoCo - Norton Race Bike

Eric Anderson is an Indianapolis-based photographer and motorcyclist who creatively captures the mood that emanates from fuel-burning machinery. As an architect, evidence of his trade shows up in his work; he creates strong compositions where the hero of the image is often metal framework or a mechanical harmony of engine components. We wanted to share with you a window into the world of AMotoCo: Moto Inspired Photography.
