Racers’ Perspective: Racing Motorcycles at Indianapolis Motor Speedway
We dropped in on the Moto2 and XR1200 test at IMS to talk to the riders about their role in the upcoming Indianapolis GP weekend. When moving around the garages, it’s easy to marvel at their lifestyle and full immersion into the sport. Their job is to find the fastest way around a track, regardless of what city it’s in, whatever the layout is and however old it may be. At Indy, it’s different.
The racers can’t help but lean back and look up at the grandstands and pagoda towering over all the concrete and steel of the world’s first “speedway.” The yard of bricks has a way of putting the fans and racers on equal ground.
Thanks to AMA Pro Vance & Hines XR1200 Series riders Jason DiSalvo, Steve Rapp, Mike Morgan, Shelina Moreda, and Kyle Wyman for sharing their perspectives of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Thanks also to Moto2 competitors, J.D. Beach, Jake Gagne, and Martin Cardenas for taking the time to talk as they prepared for the Red Bull Indianapolis GP.
