Motorcycles and music go hand in hand. Often we think of rockin’ jams from Seger or Steppenwolf, but in this song from Passenger, we’ve found a soft and somber telling of a tale where a motorcycle has a key role in experiencing life. Watch the simple, pond-side performance of “Riding to New York” and see Michael Rosenberg‘s lyrics below…then go hug someone you love.
Relive the 2013 Mods vs. Rockers Chicago event taking place in Uptown Chicago at the Aragon Ballroom. The guys at Steel Toe Press throw a mean party, or in this case, the “largest urban vintage motorcycle rally in the United States.” We were there for the entire Saturday and captured this video-sampling of bikes, hot rods and rock n’ roll. There were top acts indoor and out, with a nice mix of rockabilly, psychobilly, roots rock and a little punk sprinkled in. If you missed this killer gathering of mods, rockers and rockabilly rebels, mark your calendar for next year: June 13th & 14th, 2014!
Sifting through the record collection here at Good Spark Garage, I came across Arlo Guthrie’s album, Running Down the Road. The image of him on his 1960’s Triumph scrambler prompted me to hum his iconic “Motorcycle Song.” So I pulled out the well-worn Alice’s Restaurant album where the motorsickle song resides.
