As a prelude to the big Rockers Reunion Indy event, Ton Up Indianapolis hosted a gallery event to unveil the trophies that would be awarded at the June 1st bike show. We headed downtown, toward Fountain Square, to check out the motorcycle-related art, photography and handcrafted trophies. The weather was perfect, a nice Spring primer to the warm-weather motorcycling ahead.

The day started out with dark clouds and looming, scattered T-storms. By the time of the event, it moved outta town and cooled off for some nice curbside camaraderie.

Eric’s moto-inspired photography lined the walls of Pivot Marketing’s gallery/office space, where the unveiling took place. See more of Eric’s work here; he’s got a great eye for capturing the metals and moods of machines that burn fossil fuels.

Not your typical wine n’ cheese gallery event. More like a beer and grease kind of event.

Sprockets, discs, mufflers and more make up the one-of-a-kind sculptures for multiple categories in the Rockers Reunion bike show. Sean also has one of the most weatheredly-cool motorcycle jackets we’ve seen (below).

Above and below: Handmade puppets created by artist and illustrator Chris Sickels were on display as well. As “Red Nose Studio,” Chris builds, paints, and sews these little creatures to be featured in photographic illustrations. See our Good Spark feature on him here.

The event brought out a lot of the motorcycling characters we run into in Indianapolis. This includes the National Moto+Cycle guys, who brought their board-tracker inspired motocycles (below). You can hear their two-strokes ringing off the old buildings of historic Fountain Square.

Well into the evening, the sidewalks were lined with people who were drawn out by the Ton Up Indianapolis guys. Been too many cold months leading up to this day, so it was a perfect excuse to fire up the bikes and spit some gas through the carbs. A big thanks to Adam Ratcliff, Ryan Abegglen and Eric Anderson of Ton Up Indy for putting on a First Friday gallery event that welcomed helmet- and boot-clad attendees.
