You’ve seen our Friday post of the 2013 Motorcycles on Merdian, now here are the Saturday pics. Both photo sets only scratch the surface of the size this event has grown to. The folks at Indianapolis Motor Speedway have done well and coordinating and spurring the success of this gathering, which happens in conjunction with the Red Bull Indianapolis GP weekend. Here’s just a taste of the scene…
The Wilkinson Bros’ BMW cafe racer parked on Market Street, just west of the Monument.We love seeing the vintage bikes surfacing among the sportbikes and cruisers.Put on your “going-out” clothes and do date-night at Motorcycles on Meridian.Perfect summer weather and a cruise around the heart of downtown Indy.Dual sport guys mixing it up with the eclectic mix of motorcycles.All kinds of toys line the streets; as they come and go, it creates an endless bike show.We’re suckers for spotting Ural sidecars, like this couple on a Gear-Up.Local riders, Vee and Nathan enjoy a night out on their ’98 Ural Tourist.If you’re into checking out custom paint jobs and custom chrome, you’ll see plenty of it.Though there was a big presence of police on hand, we didn’t see any angst.People of all types getting along. Between locals, out-of-towners and GenCon attendees, everyone seemed to play nicely.What do you get when you cross GenCon fanatics and bikers? Good people watchin’.
“Fire up the trike, Mama; we’re goin’ cruisin’ tonight.”Ahhh…the smell of BBQ and two-stroke smoke together.Folks could try their hand at wheelie-ing a sportbike on the iWheelie.com rig.Park your bike or cruise the strip…or do both. There’s sure to be someone who’ll dig your motorcycle.
If you missed it, just plan on being there next year, when MotoGP returns to Indianapolis! The scene is alive from the early afternoon to well past midnight. If you’ll be in Indy for the Red Bull Indianapolis GP or the Indy Mile, top off the evening with Motorcycles on Meridian in 2014.
